Been there done that with my Yamaha! I will always if possible disconnect any oil injection for now on!
What he said, they had a flow sensor in them but it only went off it the pump piston wasn't moving. Many times the whole thing quit and wouldn't set off the alarm. On a carb'd 2 stroke or most low pressure EFI(NOT a DFI) you can disconnect it and then you know it gets the oil.

I got a 250 YAMAHA at the house that is a prime example of what a failed oil injection system can do. But I ran the oil injection system on all of my 25HP SUZUKI's with ZERO problems.
