Default Re: Rod and Reel Combo help

Hey man, I'm gonna guess your going to be in the Chesapeake Bay. It depends on what kind of fishing your going to do. Trout, flounder, spot, croaker you can use spinning tackle. If your going to troll for strippers, blue fish you want a conventional reel.

Spinning tackle:
15 to 20 lb class rod (mono ) 6 1/2 ft rod med action
I'd try and get a deal on a Penn combo, and I've been considering trying an Okuma combo, reasonably priced and I have two others that, while not being fancy, have been dependable and trouble free.

Conventional tackle for trooling;
Either a Penn 113h reel and matching rod or a 330 gti penn rod and reel combo. I like the level wind on the 330 gti and it easily handles 30 lb mono
