I did mine two years ago. Wellcraft used 4-5" square plywood pieces. It's actually scrap wood. Once you start, they come off pretty easy. Use a wood chisel. I cut one piece of marine plywood and took the hatch and plywood to a friend who was plant manager for Hell's Bay boats and they glassed and vacuum secured both pieces. The previous owner installed 2x2's crossways and screwed down thru the cover. What a mess.
