Been a long time for me since dealing with I/O's. And, I never came across the need to run the motor without the outdrive on. If memory serves correctly, aren't there a couple of water tubes coming out of the coupling that go to the motor. I would think you could rig a hose with a clamp to the tubes and run it without any problems. ???
