Default Re: Prop Stats

Ok for the hell of it here we go

I run a 15 1/4 *X 15 prop, I like my boat to get out the hole faster, It also moves the water under a boat with alot of weight. I comercial fish and with 500# fish, 2 or 3 guy's another 700# *plus all the gear and gas I need it!!

But I lose on the top end, and go slower, which I could care less about, I top out at 35 to 39 mph
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Now I use to run a 15 X 17 and I would hit 40+ mph!! *But then I lost on the lower end, and was a dog out the hole, and took longer to plain out with all the weight in the boat.

So first off you need to ask yourself what do you want your boat to do??

After you figure that out you can call a local prop shop or a good mariner and tell him what you have for a boat, motor, the weight of the boat, *gas, ect ect..

Tell him you need more torq out the hole, or you have a need for speed.

They are pretty good and can get you close to what you need. My mariner recomended a size and I bought it and they let me go on a test run and I then brought the prop back and went down a size and was right were I wanted to be.

I am pretty sure most here run a 17 pitch with good results!! *I just needed to be different.

Good luck!!
