Re: Hello, I just joined.
Thanks guys,
To answer your question rico about fuel consumption, I can just tell you that when any outboard is turning 5500-5800 rpms its burning too much fuel. I dont have an exact figure on the full throttle consumption but i bet is probably around 25-30+ gallons/hr. I rarely would ever keep it at full throttle for more than a minute or two. Just long enough to blow by those contenders and regulators with twins burning 50 gallons an hour. I know that my second v-20 would do a solid 40 knots in 2-3 foot chop and burn about 15-18 gallons an hour. It really depended on what prop i had on there. with a 17 on it i could easily do 35 knots in the ocean and burn about 14 avg. But with a michigan prop 23 pitch chopper i could get it to push 60 knots in the rivers on a good day, lets just say then i could see the fuel gauge slowly moving towards empty. By the way I removed the stock 60 gallon tank and replaced it with a 100 gallon tank. Pretty tough swap out but it was well worth it. I think that wellcraft should seriously consider bringing the v-20 back. To this day I have not found a 20 foot hull that is drier, smoother, and tougher than a v-20.
Cheers,
Chris
