Re: Beaufort inlet
Blue, you make a good point about clear water...I concur. 8)
Story: when I was in school getting certified (SCUBA) many years back and the dive master was explaining the dangers of Barracuda. He told us a story about one of his former classes he was taking on their final dive before certification. One of his students seen a Cuda and panicked. He pulled his dive knife out for protection. BAD idea!! The cuda seen the flash and charged him...in about 2 seconds the man was missing a hand at the wrist. They have very bad eyesight as well.
Another story: I was anchored over a reef snapper and king fishin last summer. I had the Chum Churn over the side and was chumming for kings. (its like a dinner bell BTW) We were in 100' water about 20 miles out and it was SLICK calm. You could have fished offshore in a bass boat that day. The water was really clear and I seen an "object" next to the boat. I looked again and it was a BIG Cuda! On the other side was another a little smaller. The bigger one HAD to be a solid 5'. :o They just sat next to the boat like logs for a while. I threw everything I had at em and they wouldnt touch it. I always wanted to dive that wreck, but I thought twice every since that day. ::)
I was rather be in the water with a shark than a Cuda. They are FAST, MEAN, and like most women hangin on the edge of sanity at all times. :o
