Don't sweat the tilt gauge!! Just look back you can see if its up or down, if not listen for the wine when shes out :o

On my Yamaha there is a little lever on the left side thats on a screw and spring, it was all craped up and no move on its own, stuck down all the time.
Check it there to see if it moves freely.
