MJ, From my experience in having both outboards and I/O's, unless you get into high performance motors, an outboard of equal horsepower as an I/O will give you much better speed. It's mostly due to the power to weight ratio.
My guess is, you'll top out at around 40-45 mph with that 175 Yammi provided you get the rpm's where they need to be. I get around 38 mph with my 150 but I'm not sure I'm getting full WOT (need to experiment more once I splash) and cbuzz is getting just over 48 mph with his 200 hp. So you should end up somewhere in between.
As we discussed before, you may find that you'll need trim tabs to give the stern a little more lift and a better attitude because of the offset of the bracket.
Weather's not looking too good and neither is the extended forcast for the weekend. When do you think you'll be splashing?
