You are devastated. You are heartbroken. You are protesting the hundreds of thousands of innocent lives that have been lost in Iraq. You are calling for members of the Bush Administration to be thrown in jail. Dick Cheney's defense of torture makes you sick to your stomach.
You are deeply moved when candidate Obama talks about his number one campaign promise, ending the "biggest mistake in American history," the Iraq War.
Eight years from now a President will come along who believes in peace, who is against bloodshed no matter who is doing it, and who for the first time in decades, starts no new wars. The people whom you currently hate will tell you to hate him and you will.
Sixteen years from now you will support a candidate who touts the endorsement of a man you currently refer to as Satan, Dick Cheney. All the people you currently despise, from John Bolton and Mitt Romney to David Frum, Nicolle Wallace, and Bill Kristol will tell you to vote against the candidate with a record of peace. And you probably will.
Hope and change was nice. What you really need is to open your eyes."
