Re: Help CY get to New Orleans
Back in '85 me and a drinkin' buddy had Patriots seasons tickets. This was the year that they went on to the Superbowl only to be clobbered by the Bears 46-10.
Anyways, we faced the same predicament; how to come up with the funds to go. Buying the tickets, or ducats as they were called wasn't a problem. Usually there is a lottery held to ration out the limited number of ducats to a waiting list of existing season ticket holders. But because the Pats sucked so bad in prior seasons their season ticket sales were in the dumper which meant all season ticket holders who wanted them got their allotment of $75 face value ducats! I could get two tickets and my buddy four. We were actually hesitant about buying all of 'em because earlier that same season we always had extra tickets it seemed. The running joke at the time was that if you had an extra pair of tickets on the way into the stadium you could tuck 'em under a windsheild wiper of a car in the parking lot and on the way out you would likely find a dozen more in the same spot! We were actually afraid of getting stuck with them. But pretty soon our phones started ringing from people who new we had season tickets. One thing lead to another and we discovered the black market prices and we were off to the races, or should I say New Orleans! We sold his block of four tickets as it was worth more and went to the game on my pair. We pooled our funds and figured the price we got for the scalped tickets would cover transportation, hotel, food and drink. As it turned out we were good on the travel and hotel but severly underbudgeted for booze.
So is that $774 street price or face value? If you can buy at face value is there any resale potential down the road?
Hope you get to make the trip!
