For a small look into the pretty much unspoiled woods there’s a chapter in a book by George W Sears, pen name Nessmuk that describes his walk on foot through some forest that hadn’t been assaulted yet by “sportsmen” of the day. He lived in the 1800’s. I haven’t read it for quite a while, but it’s a fun read and makes me wish I could go back to see the world then and before that.
I found an online version free in the Gutenberg project. The Book is: Woodcraft & Camping, but it comes up if you search Nessmuk in Gutenberg. I think it’s time to read it again.
