Great fish!! Let me say, they are not alone!! were there is one there is more.
Every area is different, try different bait longer bait shorter bait.
Try different colors, jig slow jig fast. I have a 7 foot Ugly Stick. I rig spinning gear with 5/0 circle hook, and I dead stick it.
That rod catches better then some of us some days!!
Don't give up!! the best bait here is squid to start, But freash fluke belly from a short fish (you didn't hear me say that) make strips about 1/2 to 3/4 wide and about 4" long to start.
