I'd have to agree with Phat, the garmin units are easier to operate and seem to give better service. That being said, I got a close out 7 inch Lowrance on my sea hunt for $350. You have to pay close attention to the details on the box when you are comparing them. Pre loaded maps, fresh water(lake and rivers), inshore, offshore, side view, dual beam, 3d, etc.. all add to the cost. It really surprises me how often I see customers drop 10k on electronics then upgrade in three years. The more options I see on a unit, generally means the faster it will be unsupported. BTW, those 20 inch screens are $15k just for the screen
