Phat, as far as balls, a round trip to the far ramp is less than 8 miles, including the drive through the gas station. 5.3 is more than ballsy enough for my local ramps. Only issue is, as you can see... the mileage on a 15-20 year old truck. Another good thing, my round trip to and from work is less than two miles per day.
I’m assuming the little V8 in the 4Runner will be adequate for dragging 4,000 pounds of boat and trailer up the ramp.
I’d love to go with something with a bed, but they seem to command a premium.

Heck yeah. Even my '95 4Runner with a 3.0 V-6 (the "three-point-slow) moved my V-20 locally for years. For those distances you don't need to be too worried about being "ballsy."
