I think the 70's boats did not drain overboard. If you are all-in, think about raising the deck and adding scuppers. Definitely go 25" transom.

Not sure if the 70's transoms were flat across. If so, you could do a plywood or Coosa transom easily. the later hulls have multiple angles to the transom..
