Default On the hunt!!

Well it’s that time of year again. Time to get the boat cleaned up for Memorial Day boat fun. Hopped in the my Coastal this past weekend to get it cleaned up and found a few disappointments. First the floor is covered in oil from the helm to the stern. It appears a seal in the old power steering system popped. I tried re-pressurizing the system and it won’t hold any pressure. It appears parts for this system are obsolete. So the quickest, probably wisest decision would be to order a SeaStar system. So there’s $1300. Trim tabs aren’t working again. It’s an old Bennett system that gave me nothing but fits last year so looks like at the very least a Lenco electric conversion may be in order, another $500. But the biggest upset is just over the past 5 months the floor has gotten many soft spots. The floor had been replaced when I got it and it was an obvious amateur job but seemed solid. Apparently there is water making its way in and the damage has been done.

So now I’m contemplating my options. I found a newer version of my boat that needed repowered that seemed like a deal that was too good to be true. Well it was. I went and seen her and although it may at the end of the day be worth the $600-800 he would of took, the transom was shot. I know with a new transom and the running gear I have on my boat it’s a $8000 boat all day, I just don’t want a project right now.

I now keep finding myself searching the whole east coast for another V-20 Fisherman. Well honestly it’s not just now, it’s actually been one of my alerts on my Craig’s app since I sold my green boat. I’d love to find one that needs repowered but these boats are rare enough as it is, much less finding one how I want it. I have a couple I want to go see that are water ready but then I have my Coastal with my Merc that I’ve dumped a ton of money in just sitting. I’d sell her but don’t think I’d be happy with any offers I’d get. I guess we will see what happens. If you guys spot any fisherman’s please pass them on to me.
