If it's transom mounted, I would think you'll be fine, but it would be a good idea to move some weight forward like your batteries if you can. Otherwise install some check valves in your deck drains, and call it a day. Myself I would be looking for a 2.5l optimax if it was my money. The 3.0l engines are nice, but the 2.5l will do most everything you need, they're well known to be one of the best engines on fuel, and would save you a few pounds vs the 3.0l.
