Like Spare said, 2.0L carbed engine. I believe 86 used the 16 amp charging system which many weren't to fond of. My 81 had the 9 amp, and that sucker couldn't keep up with ANY electrical loads. The later engines had the 40 amp system, and it has some output to it. Theres ALOT of parts interchangeability with those engines as well. With a little work, you can swap it from a 135 to a 150, change a 9 amp charging system to a 16 or 40 amp system, and so on. Ignition parts can be swapped for many years as well IIRC. Some complain they were fuel hogs, but my 81 2.0l was very gentle on fuel until you got on it.
