Carl, good idea on the vent hose while you got her open... ;)...
The ground wire shoulda been there...two ring connectors and some 16ga. wire...run wire along filler hose to fill cap, crimp on connector and put it under filler cap on one of the thru bolts ...other end of wire to one of the screws holding the plate down where your fuel gauge connects...crimp on the other ring connector, put that screw thru it and back in the plate...zip-strap the wire as needed and you're grounded... ;)...
