Re: Hey Pipe...WORE HER OUT!!
Its a pretty nice lake. It doesn't have the crystal clear water that some lakes do.
The main problem is this:
The largest aluminum manuf. in the world - ALCOA - owns the lake and they only promise to keep it full from May - September. After that, they are makin power and you just better hope it rains alot! Seriously though, it hasn't been a big problem until that big drought we had a couple years ago. Lake level plummetted over 20 + feet from full pond. Poor fishies were dying in groves. Every year in the winter it typically drops from 10 - 15 ft. but no one expected close to 25ft that year. And for months!
I could go on for hours, but lets just say that ALCOA mis-manages their reserviors like crazy! We have a lake below us called Badin also owned by ALCOA. The difference is that Badin is full of rich @ss folks (sorry if anybody reading this is rich) and IMHO due to this, they will let High Rock drop 15 ft before they even start to drain Badin a foot. Its a cryin shame. Luckily the Lord has blessed us with lots and lots of nice rain since then.
Badin doesn't have floating docks and any time they drop below 2ft the owners ***** like crazy. All High Rock has is floating docks due to the fluctuation. We all ***** like crazy too, but it don't help.
Also Pipe, I've never heard of a gator in HR, but not too far south there is Lake Wylie, and I know for a fact there was a good sized one in there about 2 years ago!
As for the inland regatta - say when!
