It's called hypothermia, and if you fall in you are in for a rough time. So don't fall in. Better yet, wear a tether to the boat, as well as your engine kill lanyard. Even a light wind can quickly blow a boat away from you. This way you can quickly haul yourself to the boat and climb back in. Words to live by.
