Yep, same basic engines. The larger 200/225 loopers burned just about the same amount of fuel at the same RPM's, but put out a good bit more power. The old cross flow engines were pretty inefficient engines, and alot of the fuel did pass straight through the engines unburnt(I believe it was close to 20% of the fuel went right out the exhaust). Even the later model loopers weren't that efficent. But don't think it was just an OMC problem, the 2.5L MERCS weren't much better. My 150 MERC could GULP some friggen fuel down crusing. Now late model direct injected engines of the same size burned roughly half as much fuel at cruise.
