with in the state you will need to have a bill of sale from the last registered owner or the line of bills of sale from the last registered to the person you bought it from, then a bill of sale from that person to you. if its abandoned, you can get a conditional title, you need to call DNR to get the low down on that. If anyone has any questions about titling a boat in SC, call the office in Columbia(they are very helpful), do not call the Ft. Johnson office. Also, do not lie about it, they run across all kinds of stories, they've heard them all, the honest truth will get you much further than lie ing about it, even if its a long story. I've found the Columbia office very helpful. If its out of state, you may be able to get away with just a bill of sale, I'd call the home state DNR just to make sure its not stolen
