This exactly. I tried drying mine with halogen and infrared lamps for a few days then using kwik poly. It felt solid, I was going to glass it back up. I ground down the edge and when I started blowing it off I found it was still wet.
I'm going to replace it now. If it's wet and soft it'll never dry and be solid.
