Re: 1980 Welcraft Retail Price List
Relax steplift20!! You are going to blow a gasket!!
Like with everything, Time goes on and with time taste change!
Theres no doubt that these are great boats!! And I am sure that Wellcraft knows it also!
But for Wellcraft to stay in the game they have to give the boaters what they want, and at a good price.
Today boats are lighter, faster, sleeker, and to do this they have to change alot of things!!
People want bait tanks, seats, molded this and that and to do it for a good price they have to cut something else??
These new boats are going with composit fillers that are much easier and cheaper then to have some guy hand laying fiberglass.
I don't blame Wellcraft for it one bit!! Its the boaters them self. They asked for and they got the new boats of today, for better or worse.
We are just a hand full of guys that love what we have and would like to keep them around for a long time to come, But for a big company they can't cater to a small group!
They will go out of bissnes real fast! My boat is 30 years old, and if they sold new boats, to let say the 300+ members here and they lasted 30 years what would they do?
I don't no if this idea of building are own boats will ever fly??
But if it does it will be a great way to sell a new boat to people that want to have a soild fiberglass hull!
But it all comes down to cost!! If you can't do it cheap anough it won't sell!
And getting started with a $3000 mold is just the tip of the iceburg!! Theres a long long long way to go before this ever ever gets going!
I hope for all those who want to do it, they some how can! But the odds are aganist it!
