Hang in there mj
Mucin Secreting Acidocarcinoma is the technical term they put on the type of colon cancer I had. Slow growing kind and best to be discovered and irradicated early. I had the resection in 1996. I was 26. When you hear those words for the first time, it is a bad day to say the least. I do know a little about it first hand, I lost my dad to colon cancer when he was 38 years old, I was 6. Runs in our family. I will never forget that day, my doctor knew it was cancer from the scope, he was so smug about it. I asked him how he could be sure? He said he had seen it many times before.. They put me in the hospital and a day later I was going under the knife. Recovery wasn't bad and I was back to work in 6 weeks. Year of chemo for me but it was a cakewalk. Insurance paid for 99.99% back then, THANK YOU AVMED!
So I have the "UP Periscope" procedure at about every 2 to 3 years. The cleanout is a hell of a treat ain't it? They find polyps and an occassional start of some cancer about every other time they go in.
So I feel for you and the missus. You keep your head up and remember, it may not be cancer at all.. It could be a cyst or numerous other things.. Maybe its a Snickers bar that has been stuck in there since you were a kid... OK, mental images cannot be unseen.... maybe I went too far..
