Well, if your boat is big enough, electric power has been proven to be a good source of propulsion. Just look at WWII submarines, made by the Electric Boat Corporation. And of course in the present day, pod drives on boats (electric motors getting their power from an on-board engine) are becoming almost everyday occurrences. But if you're talking about running a boat like ours, all day, on batteries, I don't think that battery technology is anywhere near being able to accomplish that. You would still need a tremendous amount of space on-board, and all that extra weight will effect the performance significantly. Still, it's a nice dream.
