Re: Wellcraft V20 Event
Hey Guys!!
Been away a few days. I picked up the new V20 over the weekend (got off the road at 5:45am, just before rush hour traffic). It floats, it runs, it seems about as advertized, and still seems like a good deal.
(New pics in the Gallery - I need to get Photobucket so I can post them in the Forum.)
Labbi, Southport would be good. I agree their ramp is less crazy than Wrightville Beach. Again, I'm flexible. I need to get down to Wilmington in the next couple weeks.... I'll make a point to look around. Depending on time of year and weather we might think about Cape Lookout? I mean are we talking about a day fishing, or just racing around with our boats (and beer?). I was just thinking about Spanish Makeral (spelling?).
And I agree that we should avoid holiday weekends... not sure what I was thinking there.
And as far as Wellcraft bringing back the V20's, well I had a couple other boat owners/fisherman (unfamiliar with the V20's) come up to me at the marina in NJ and comment that my cockpit seems bigger than those on their 24ft Walk-arounds. I really think these are great boats; for fishing and diving.
I still think we don't have to get too formal with this thing. We could just have a few regional get-togethers depending on who's located where that wants to do this sort of thing.
Hey!! What about a V-20 meeting in Florida during Bug (Spiney Lobster) Open Sportsman season? There you go, good boats, lobsters, and beer. I hate to sound like a TV commercial, but it really DOESN'T get any better than that.
The new (old) Chevy did a great job towing the boat down from NJ (1st trip that long pulling a load that big), didn't do nearly as bad on gas as I thought either. I can see making some more roadtrips with this thing.
