For a constant load application like a boat, an engine driven water pump is about as good as your going to get. The water pump will be running pretty much non stop under way, and if it isn't you will get some pretty severe hot spots around teh cylinder walls when it cycles off and on while under load. And there won't be much HP savings as you will now have a higher current drain on the charging system that will cancel out the HP savings from getting rid of the water pump. It's your engine and your decision, but running an electric water pump on anything but a competition style application is BEGGING for trouble.
