Talked with the guy on the phone. Pro mariner for thirty years. Owned a marina here in Jersey on the Manasquan River. Moved up by MJ a few years back.
Boat was a rack stored boat here in Jersey on the Manasquan. He bought it knowing it had a soft deck. Pulled the deck completely off transom to front storage, re did whole underneath, said stringers were solid. Used marine grade epoxied both sides and glassed in. Re-did the transom by removing the cap and pulling out all old wood and putting in new marine grade. Put in new fuel tank also. He sounds like a cross between Skools, Spare and Ferm. LOL
He has used the boat to run out for tuna here and up on the Vineyard in Mass. Owned the boat for 9 years now.
Re-did the engine this past summer.
I am not a fan of the open transom but he says water never comes in there and he fishes with his kids for tuna 60 miles out and would not if there was any problems with something like that.
He has an opportunity to buy a big sport fisher up there cheap if he acts right away and wants to go for it.
