You're probably correct. I really don't know the present laws, and as you say, they can vary greatly from state to state. But laws that have been made can be changed, so that's really not the issue. The issue is how do we protect our children and ourselves from these monsters.
When my son (who is now 23) was growing up, the elementary school he went to had electronic locks and cameras on every door. You could not enter the school without being admitted from inside the building, and you were escorted to wherever you had to go. I always thought that they were being overly protective.... now I thank God they had such foresight. Although this is not the single answer, for indeed, there are many...perhaps it's a start, along with guns for teachers with the proper psych profile and training?
