Default Re: Steering arm and Hynautic steering

I hate frozen steering arms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That happened to me once, and only once!! Now I take my steering cable out of the tube every winter!!And reinstall it in the spring!

But I guess some here say that the V20 can't get the cable off with the motor on the boat cause it is to close?

But I have the bracket! ;D

O, did you have a question??

The one I had was a real pain in the @#$!

I ended up having to drill a few holes in the steering tube, and spraying a ton of PB Blaster in the holes over a couple of days.
Let it soak. I sprayed at least 6 times a day to let the stuff get in there.
After that it was moving but slow!! So now I hit it with some heat and banged some more!!

O yea when your arm feels like it is going to fall off get a bigger hammer!! A 3 pound works great!!

Now when you get the rod in the tube and you can't hit it anymore you will have to use something like a old 3/8 extension to bang the rest of the way out. Or anything that is long enough to do the job.

When finished the rod is going to be JUNK and you will need a new one!

I had one friend that had to cut the rod off and then remove the steering tube and replace it!

time & Patience!! is the key with lots of oil!!

I wish you lots of luck my friend!! Been there done that and hate it!!
