I would think so Jason.....What are they using as an insert on the slide rings? Its usually plastic and Ive seen before where they can get gummed up by oils, dirt and salt off your hands.
Worst case scenario hit them with the Flitz and then you can go back with something like the Sprayway SS polishing spray and that would help to lubricate and protect them.
BTW, if you havent used any Sprayway products before you are missing out!!!! Their glass cleaner is amazing and is ammonia free. It comes out in a foam as opposed to a runny liquid.
