That's what a firestorm does.. it consumes everything that can burn. I've always thought that if I ever lived close to a forest like that I'd put a dry sprinkler system on my roof. If every one of those houses that burned had a roof flooded with water I wonder how many of them might have been saved? It wouldn't have to be much, just a pipe running along the ridge with several heads. Remember the canyon fires in California a few years back...we saw the same kind of destruction...except for ONE house, still standing, right in the middle of all those houses that had been burned to the ground... it was a Mexican style home and had a tile roof. Tile doesn't burn. If you can keep your roof from burning you have a good chance of saving your house.
