There's a reason that all US Naval ships have only red lights on after sunset. It takes almost 20 minutes for the average persons eyes to adjust to the dark. (more as you grow older) As soon as you turn on any color other than red you loose your night vision and have to start over again. BarnagatV20 got it right. Red is the color you want if you're out at night. White and blue and all other colors may look cool but they hurt your night vision,... which is not cool.
