on family farms there are ALOT of dangers that underage family members/friends are exposed to and shouldn't be.several that always come to mind are pto shafts that have had protective shrouds missing, augers w/out the proper protective covers and kids operating tractors that most don't have proper training on and in many cases rollovers occur.look up the injury numbers associated with farms and then look at the ages of those injured.
I'm not for more gov't but i am very much for protecting kids from un-necessary injuuries or death.I worked on many different farms when i was in school and saw alot of these situations.all it takes is one shroud that has been removed and a split second and the result is forever.
if SOME regulations help remedy the problem then I'm all for it.
all it takes is seeing 1 person who's been caught up in a pto shaft to be convinced that some regulations would help.

I was a maintenance machinist for a lot of years... safety guards missing from equipment is a danger no matter where you are. One of the worst days of my life was when I had to crawl into a Bobst die cutter machine and remove a guys arm that had been torn off because he removed a safery guard so the machine could go faster.
No one is arguing that equipment should be safe. But to say that a PERSON cannot operate that equipment, safe or not, is a completely different matter. I just think that it's the parents call, not some government beauracrat.
