dont know if you southern boys know this but baby bluefish are called 'snappers'. another fact you may not know is many days, bluefish can be quite the nuisance.
toward the end of summer those little snapper are between 3/4 pound and 1 1/2 pounds. they'll eat dam near anything you throw at them. we got a spot where they hang for hours at a time. they hide from the bigger blues and stripers that are getting fat for the trip south. we throw tins at them on 4 pound spinning gear and believe me they tear yards off them little reels. you can hook up with a fish on dam near every cast and you'll get tired way before they will. aint much to compare with them for light tackle. we flatten the barbs down on trebles cause they take the whole dam thing in their mouth.
many's the day when snappers or blues have saved the day and provided hours of fun. we even throw them 4 pounders at the bigger boys and go on and fight a 10 pound bruiser on a 4 foot spinner.
not my dream trip and certainly way behind another chance to fish with my dad but some of the best sport you can come by in the northeast.
