willy, i used something like this for some spring line cleats on the v. i was a little leary of them , but they work well and are pretty easy to use.

even better would be to put in an inspection plate and use fender washers and nylock nuts. i hate a floppy seat...

I also used these to remount my pedestal seat and they worked great. 1/4" stainless machine screws.
On my 84 cuddy, only 4 holes bolted thru the other 2 were screwed into the stringers.

I'm thinking maybe there was a fold-up cutting board on the back of that chair?
