I think I paid about $1000 for the machine with the additional power wheel kit (extra needles etc etc).

I looked at older Singer machines and off brands but decided to go with the Sailrite model. If you have experience sewing then an older machine might work for you but for a novice I think the Salirite is the way to go.

My In laws have an older Singer in Yuma AZ. They told me we could have it but the shipping and cost of having someone adjust and time the machine would off set the savings.

I did pay for a few tutorial videos ($5) from Sailrite to get some additional help with replacing the isinglass on the Bertram with the smiley zippers. It was worth every bit of $10.

The cost for the 3 panel front isinglass with was about $150. This incuded zippers (for all sides),basting tape, 3/4"binding,coil zippers for center opening, 20 gauge isinglass,snaps,etc etc.
