Default don't make this mistake

my daughter came home this weekend for her annual birthday/red snapper fishing trip. we were heading across the bay and heard a "clunk" like we had hit something. i stopped the boat and we looked in the water but saw nothing. i got back up on plane and was heading toward the pass, when i noticed the anchor was missing. it had fell off the pulpit, but the shackle and chain were still there, the clevis pin had come unscrewed. i pulled into the shallows to check out the hull & foot. and this is what the prop looked like

i remember commenting to someone this winter about saftey wiring a shackle, this is why you do it.
