BG I understand your frustration, I literally looked and sea trialed 12 or more V's before I bought my first one, probaly close to that number when i bought my second, I traveled many miles out of state for both.
One thought for you to consider, do not restrict yourself to a V21. The later years of the V20, 89-90 to 92 or 93 have all the benefits of the V21, raised floor line, better cockpit draining etc. there are two things they do not have from the V21, one is the small live well in the built in seats and the built in seats themselves.
The built in seats are a good feature but actually take some of the cockpit flexibility away and some don't care for them. The live well is small but it works ok from what I hear so if a live well is the deal maker for you then you need a V21, otherwise you are comparing apples to apples.
