Yea, liquid spray on a hot chip will crack if for sure. Sorry for your misfortune. Well, the offer of the CPU still stands. Even though you pulled the HD you can still rebuild the comp if you want. Not sure it would be worth if since it's 9 yrs old.

BTW, it was nice of you to buy your wife that superfine anniversary present......
