Those all sound like 2.6L parts, which makes em pretty easily swappable. I know it was around 93 or 94 that teh 225's went to the 3.1L(?) 76 degree V and things changed alot. What you did was sort of like swapping a 150 EVINRUDE powerhead of teh early 80's for a 235, they were built on teh same bas plate so they easily swap.
