Not sure about that motor but look and see if there is an in-line fuse with a waterproof holder. If so, remove the fuse and test it with an ohm meter to see if it's good.
It sounds like you might have arced a wire.
The power to the start relay, choke, all the engines instrument gauges work from this fuse.
If blown, replace it with the same type removed and with dielectric grease at the contacts.
