Hollow sounds are an indication,... not a death sentence. If you have hollow sounds that's where you should drill pilot holes to be sure. It could just be the fiberglass and the wood are not touching (bonded to each other) anymore from a lot of reasons (like drying out over the years, etc).
Drilling the holes and then sealing them up again could be a lot cheaper than taking it apart only to find that the only thing wrong was your taking it apart.
