The part of your motor that's in the front near the transom is called the tilt tube. It's the round pipe part of your motor that connects the motor to the clamp that's bolted onto your transom. The motor pivots up and down on this tube, hence it's name....tilt tube. Your steering cable goes thru this tube and is held in place by a nut that screws onto the tube. The threads that the nut screws onto are the tilt tube threads.
