Hurrah! I fixed the overheat problem. Turns out a missing washer/grommet cut the water pump pressure. Water was getting through and out the tell-tale hole but wasnt getting up through the cooling jackets. Once i put it together with all the washers, it pee'd with like 4x the force and no overheat alarm. It was my first time doing the water pump and I assumed all washers are in the water pump replacement kit. Warning: They are not. When you drop the lower unit take note of the three washer/grommet/plastic cap set-up that makes the connection to the water intake pipe that the water pump will fit into. If this is missing when you re-install the lower unit (with new impeller) you may find that the motor will pee but you then get an overheat alarm after 5 mins of running. The missing parts i'm refering to are #13, 14 and 15 (see below) anyone of these missing and your pump will not get generate the proper pressure to cool the motor. Hopefully this helps
