Craigan, that's the right mixture ratio.

Behind the engine? As in after the prop or as in closer to the transom? If after the prop, that's just part of the exhaust (I think...).

If the oil is somewhere else, I wonder if it might be left over from when I disconnected the VRO??? You're running it for the first time since the VRO was disconnected, so I wonder???

One of the more experienced guys is gonna have to chime in on this one.
