I hate to say it, but I wouldn't get too close to these losers BS. This guy has an illicit business set up and he's gonna play nice with you just because you're new in the neighborhood and tell him he should stop? There's always a bigger fish and the guy you met is most likely low on the totem pole. People up the chain from him are making more money than he is and probably won't take kindly to having the idea of setting up shop somewhere else. They also probably don't bother getting their hands dirty fixing problems. I don't live in a situation like you, but I still have an alarm system, motion activated flood lights, my house locked down like fort knox, and I concealed carry everyday due to previous experiences with people like the ones you're dealing with. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but I would caution you to be careful in this delicate situation.
